Five Dowen College students were granted bail by a Chief Magistrates’ court in the Yaba district of Lagos after the police charged them with conspiracy and homicide.
Following the suspected murder of their 12-year-old classmate, Sylvester Oromoni, the authorities charged the youngsters.
The five adolescents were detained in a juvenile home on December 9 in connection with the death of a classmate who was allegedly injured in a case of bullying at school.
The bail application was heard by Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola, who granted them bail in the amount of N1 million apiece. The accused were also had to show two sureties in the same amount, according to the magistrate.
One of the defendants’ sureties must be their parent, according to Magistrate Adeola, and must swear an affidavit of compliance.
She went on to say that all overseas passports should be checked.
